Background:
Vodacom, like all Mobile Network Operators, is undergoing a metamorphosis. It is no longer content to simply provide person-to-person communication to customers. It is beginning to provide all manner of additional value-added services and, to facilitate these, has created a powerful Internet portal, Vodacom4me (www.vodacom4me.co.za). This portal, unlike traditional Internet portals, focuses on services for mobile devices. However, one can use traditional Web browsers to access all the services and to easily configure individual profiles. The portal is highly personalised to the user's whims and fancies. All one's mobile needs are catered for in an easy- to-use and comfortable environment.

Problem identified by the customer:
iTouch provided content, consulting, development, Call Centre training and WAP phone provisioning services to the project. iTouch's service was enlisted to provide specialist WAP consulting (iConsult) on WAP strategy, content, presentation and usability. iTouch's specialist WAP development team was used to produce all the content services and certain configuration and personalisation services. iTouch's iConfigure, was integrated to allow easy setting up of WAP devices (provisioning) by Vodacom4me customers. iTouch's iCare Customer Care training service trained Vodacom's Customer Care staff to prepare them for the demands of handling WAP user queries.
